Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Dec 15, 2014:  No government across the globe has been successful in preventing or stopping circulation of black money. Therefore, it would be nothing wrong to utilise black money towards the welfare of the sick, differently abled people and deprived sections of the society, said Sri Veerabhadra Chennamalla Swamiji of Nidumamidi Mahasamsthan Mutt.

VeerabhadraSpeaking to reporters at the Shanthikirana Hall at Bajjodi in the city on December 14, Sunday, the seer also urged the institution of a Chief Minister’s People’s Welfare Fund.

He further stated that he would support any government moves towards nationalising some major rich temples of the state.

On the reported practice of untouchability while serving mid-day meals  in a school at Mysore recently, the Nidumamidi seer said there have been instances of practice of untouchability here and there despite a law banning the same. He said the problem can be solved by bringing about a change in the mindset of the society.

The Nidumamidi seer was also all praise for Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt for touching upon several pressing problems. He also recalled that only the Pejawar seer had participated in a debate on the need to end  untouchability and Madesnana practices, despite invitation extended to several swamijis of the coastal districts.

On the growing communalism, the seer stated that “Communalism  has emerged in a bid to protect the political interests of a few. Both Communalism and terrorism are political creations. There is a need for the people to live in harmony.”
