Over 30 monkeys were found dead in the area. The matter came to light when someone who noticed the dead monkeys drew the attention of the authorities through social media.

Assistant Conservator of Forests of Subrahmanya sub-division Praveen Shetty informed that the bodies of the monkeys were taken to the Yenekallu nursery and later a post-mortem was done following which the bodies were cremated.

The exact cause of the death would be ascertained only after a thorough probe.
