Five students injured, youth gangs attack each other in Vittal

Bantwal, Mar 23, 2016: A normal conversation between a girl from one community and her classmate from another community snowballed into a major crisis in Vittal Government First Grade College on March 22, Tuesday.

Fights,  broke out on the campus when students of two groups attacked each other reportedly over the same issue and in the melee, five students were injured, out of whom two have suffered severe injuries.

The seriously  injured have been identified as Yogish (18) from Kalladka and Mohommed Bilshan (20) from Paivalike, both II B.Com students. The two are said to be the main reason behind the fight and cases have been registered against them.

Mohommed Shahid (18) from Golthamajal, Sinan (18) from Nelligudde and Sanath (18) from Yermajal are the others injured.  While injured students of one group have been admitted to Vittal Community Centre, the other group has been admitted to a private hospital in Puttur.

Recap :  According to knowledgeable sources,  a girl from one community was speaking to her classmate from another community. The latter had only inquired about classes for the day and the girl was replying to his query on Monday Mar 21, evening.

On Tuesday mar 22, morning a gang of boys gheraoed the girl and questioned her as to why she was conversing with the boy from another community.

When the male classmate identified as Yogish got to know of the same, he resorted to assaulting the gang that probed the girl.  It is said that when yogish was returning from the Principal’s office after bringing to his notice the incident, a gang of students brutally assaulted him with wooden clubs.  When supporters of both the gangs came face-to-face, it became a violent fight.

Two complaints stand registered in this particular case.  Based on the complaint filed by the Principal of the college cases have been filed against Yogish, Mohommed Bilshan and others.

However, the exact reason behind the fight is not yet known as there are various versions about the fight that are making rounds in the college premises.
