Addressing the gathering, Shri Raja Sandhyanathji said that mass prayers should be offered to the sea god for unlimited blessings. He said that following this age old tradition will please the sea god, who will bless the fishermen, protect them, and grant them peace and wealth.

A large number of devotees offered coconuts, milk, and flowers to the sea god as part of the rituals. They also urged the sea god to protect fishermen from fishing accidents, provide plenty of fish, and save them from natural calamities.

A procession, which began at Kudroli Shrirama Bhajana Mandira at 9:00 a.m., marked the beginning of the rituals.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA N. Yogish Bhat promised his listeners that the ropeway project will be completed within 3 years.

B. Janardhan Poojary, the chief guest of the event, spoke of the important of religious rituals in the lives of the people. He also urged the government to construct a bridge between Tannirbhavi and Boloor.
R. P. Boloor, a Mogaveera leader, said that the sea is a treasure house of not only fish, but also gems, diamonds, and other precious things, adding that fishermen pray only for fish, their means of livelihood, and not anything else.

The fishing community believes that the sea god will be pleased and will bless them with prosperity if they conduct samudra pooja early in the morning on the sea shore. Fishermen begin fishing in their traditional fishing boats only after offering samudra pooja every year.
