Mangaluru, March 27, 2020: As deep sea fishing is banned across the coast in Karnataka, all mechanised boats are anchored at the port and the fish loving coastal people will have to go without fish for their meals for the next few weeks.
The step has been taken to prevent large number of people at the ports as social distancing is one of the vital measures to combat Covid-19.
The old port in Mangaluru is wearing a deserted look as all activities have come to a standstill. However, on Wednesday being the last day of deep sea fishing, the port was filled with people vying with each other to buy fish letting all social distancing rules to wind.
