Fire in Pachanady dumping yard extinguished

Mangaluru, April 2, 2016 : A fire which broke out at the Pachanady dumping yard during the wee hours of April 2, Saturday has been doused by the fire service personnel in a timely action.
It is believed that the fire was lit by the land fill workers on Friday morning. However by around midnight it had spread and locals who noticed this informed the fire service department.
A person who is in-charge of the land fill also stated that someone in the dumping yard had lit the fire. He also stated that land fill can be guarded only when there are adequate personnel and proper lighting without which it was difficult for the staff to discharge their duties. He even accused the MCC of apathy in this regard.
