Mangaluru, Nov. 22: To usher in the spirit of the upcoming festive season an elaborate cake mixing ceremony was organized at the Ocean Pearl hotel, Mangalore on 22nd Nov 2016.
The cake-mixing ceremony is traditionally done so as to spread the warmth of the Christmas festive season. Spreading the cheer along with the chefs, the ceremony had invited the participation of all media personals, in-house guests dressed in typical Chefs attire wearing hats and aprons amidst tradition and fanfare.
The event was beautifully arranged with amazing décor, a large tray for mixing filled with ingredients, variety of wine and liquors. The first step towards making the cake is the mixing process, "It is a ritual religiously followed the world over and is considered to be a harbinger of good tidings and happiness" asid B.N.Girish, the Vice President of the Ocean Pearl group of hotels.
All the guest are welcomed to join the mixing process. The ingredients of the festive fruit cake are mixed with wine and liquor generously so that the ingredients can develop aroma and taste.
The sugar content of the liquor and fruit juices help preserve the ingredients that includes dry fruits like raisins, black currants, prunes, glazed dates, cherries, candid orange, lemon rinds and nuts like cashews, pistachios and almonds. "This is emptied into large containers and stored for a couple of days before Christmas, with occasional stirring to ensure that the nuts soak till they are swollen. After couple of weeks, the soaked nuts and dried fruits will be removed from the airtight containers and shall be used in preparing delicious Christmas Plum cake.
The event came to an end with snacks and refreshments being served to all the participants and guests.
