Female student activist harassed by vigilante groups; lodges complaint

Mangaluru, Jan 11, 2017: Madhuri Bolar, an M.Com student at a  government women’s college  in the city and also the District Secretary of the Students Federation of India has lodged a compolaint with the City Police Commissioner  alleging that vigilante groups were out at maligning her by circulating a group photo  on WhatsApp wherein she is seen with her  friends including a Muslim youth.

The photo was reportedly picked from a Facebook post wherein she is seen with her friends  Suhas Adiga, Ganesh Bolar and Hamza. She points out that the photo was taken almost a year ago when  travelling by bus to participate in a camp.  The WhatsApp message that is circulating  says "Hamza Kinya is roaming in bike with Hindu girls,  Hindu outfits must  give him a befitting reply."

Madhuri Bolar says she is agonised by the development and has urged the City Police Commissioner to initiate stern action against the guilty. her mother Bharathi Bolar too had accompanied her while lodging a complaint.

The Commissioner has forwarded the complaint to the Cyber Crime Cell.

It may be recalled here that a College student from Moodigere had recently ended her life after being allegedly hounded by Hindu activists.
