Felicitations will motivate elected representatives to work better: Oscar

Mangalore, June 16, 2013: Felicitations and honours conferred on elected representatives will motivate them to work better and with more vigour for the cause of the society, said Oscar Fernandes, senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha Member.

He was speaking after inaugurating a function organized by the SCDCC Bank and the Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust to felicitate the newly elected MLAs and ministers on June 16, Sunday. The function of held at Loyola Hall.

 

Stating that Dakshina Kannada was far ahead from the rest of the districts in various spheres, Oscar said more importance should be attached towards the development of the youth and women.

Oscar honoured B Ramanatha Rai, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment as well as District In-charge Minister, State Minister or Health UT Khader, Urban Development Minister Vinaykumar Sorake, Fisheries Minister Abhayachandra Jain, IT Minister SR Patil and Primary and Secondary Education Minister Kimmane Ratnaker. Legislators JR Lobo, Moidin Bava, Pramod Madhwaraj, Vasanth Bangera, Shakuntala Shetty and Gopal Poojari were also felicitated.

Kimmane Ratnaker who spoke said Siddaramaiah was the first chief minister in the history of Karnataka to sanction as much as Rs 4,200-crore  for the rice at Re 1 per kg scheme.

Ramanatha Rai in his address, appreciated the progress registered by the district in the co-operative sector.
