Mangalore, Mar 11, 2014 : B Ramanatha Rai, DK District in-charge Minister and State Minister for Forest and Ecology has said that the fear of defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections has driven the BJP and Sangh Parivar to resort to acts like the recent disturbances reported in Kalladka.
Speaking to reporters at the DCC office on March 11, Tuesday, Rai said a survey which has revealed that the political environment in the district was favourable for the Congress has forced BJP to resort to such acts.
He made it clear that no leader had made a provocative speech during the Kalladka Sauharda Samavesh of the Congress and added the party had organised the meet after securing the permission of the district administration.
He squarely blamed the BJP and Sangh Parivar for the incident and alleged that they had begun stoning soon after the meeting commenced. Rai further urged for stern action against all accused in the case.
Congress leaders including District Congress Interim President Ibrahim Kodijal, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde, Kallige Taranath Shetty and others were present.
