Udupi Nov 24 2017 : "Agriculture should not be neglected as a large number of farmers are dependent on agriculture. In fact, farming can be profitable when farmers make use of modern technology," Dharmasthala Dharmadikari D Veerendra Heggade said.
Addressing a gathering after launching drones developed by Avinash and his group from Nidle at a programme titled ’Drones for agriculture and beyond’ here on Thursday, he announced that drones would be given on rent at 160 centres of Shree Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP).
He urged farmers to make good use of land, water and natural resources available in their surroundings and stressed upon the need to make maximum profit with minimum investment. At the same time, he appealed to farmers to maintain quality.
He also lauded the efforts of illiterate rural farmers for making use of JCB, weed remover and grass cutting machines in their farm activities.
He lauded the efforts of Avinash Rao and group for developing the drone and suggested that even if there are some teething troubles, farmers should be offered best facilities.
Heggade also cited an example of Nivedan who has been producing areca tea, shampoo and soaps under the aegis of Areca Research and Development Foundation of Campco.
Campco president S R Sathishchandra said that everyone will achieve success if one works hard towards it. He also said that emphasis will be given to research in agriculture. Later, Avinash gave a demonstration on the functioning of the drone and its uses in agriculture.
