Family of accused who evaded arrest warrant attack cops

Udupi, Nov 20,2015 : A person facing charges of illegally felling trees and transporting wood who was arrested by the police after  he  failed to appear before the court, attacked  the cops while  being taken to the court  on November 19, Thursday. Even his family members are facing charges of assaulting the police personnel Ashok and Manjappa.

The accused named  Ramesh Mogaveera was earlier arrested at Kedoor  near Kota.  He, it is learnt evaded  appearing before the court despite  there being an arrest warrant against him. The incident is learnt to have taken place while the two cops were taking him to the court in an autorickshaw. Ramesh who initially tried to create trouble, later intimated his family members over phone and they waylaid the autorickshaw  at Kedoor and assaulted  the cops before fleeing along with Ramesh.

The assaulted cops are undergoing treatment in the  Kundapur Government Hospital. Police have arrested Srinivas and Ganesh, both relatives of Ramesh in connection with the attack.

Kota police are investigating the case.
