Failure drives engineering student to suicide

Kasargod, May 19, 2014: Reports point to Shashikumar (25), hailing from Kokkada, Shishila, a mechanical engineering student of Sri Devi Engineering College, Kenjaru comitted suicide by jumping into stagnant water in a quarry in Karambar.

Failure in several subjects is stated to be the reason for his taking the drastic step.

His body was found yesterday May 19, in the nearby quarry where he used to go and study not far from the rented house he lived in with other students.

Sources said that he tried to hang himself in the room he resided but it was preempted by his co-residents.

There after he was absconding from the area and his folks were intimated. His parents and siblings lived at Shishila, where his father worked in a bank.

Bajpe police are said to have booked a case and are investigating.
