Puttur, July 12, 2013 : A Facebook chat with an unknown young woman proved too costly for a Bangalore youth. The latter who dumped all his earnings and savings to the unknown girl’s bank account, is today lying on the hospital bed, totally desperate and also jobless.
He is Ravi, he hails from Nelamangala in Bangalore and is a B.Com graduate. He works as an electrician and also owns a lorry which he has given on hire to a friend. Like many others he enjoyed chatting with friends on Facebook. It was in Facebook that he came into contact with a young woman of Puttur origin who worked in a private company at Bommanahalli.
They chatted for almost three years and during this period, the clever girl had managed to ensure that Ravi remitted cash to her account whenever she asked for it.As Ravi himself tells he has transferred as much as Rs 13 lakhs to Rs 14 lakhs to her account.
In the midst, Ravi was found in a critical state after he attempted suicide on the roadside at Nelyady and is presently in hospital. Probably, he had come to Mangalore in search of his Facebook lady love. According to Ravi that was one of the reason he came to Mangalore and also for a job. He stayed in Mangalore with a friend, but could not find a job and finally had boarded a bus to Bangalore. He says he who had alighted the bus which had halted at Uppinangady missed the bus and finally chose to end his life as he had no money, no job and out of blind love for the Facebook girl had even failed to take good care of his aged mother.
He was admitted to hospital in an 108 ambulance. Ravi pleads youngsters not to fall in love with anyone through Facebook.
