FB ’friend’, accomplice arrested for blackmailing Mangaluru man

Mangaluru, Oct 04, 2018 : Police have arrested two residents of  Bengaluru on the charges of befriending and blackmailing a  man from Mangaluru.  One of the accused  had even posed as a woman in Facebook  to lure the victim.

 

 Those arrested Aditya alias Ashwin (19) of Subedarpalya  near Yeshwanthpur and  Arun HS (27), a resident of Kanakapur Basaveshwara Nagar. The Urwa police who arrested the duo have brought them to Mangaluru for further interrogation.

Of the two, Ashwin had posted photos of himself as a young lady named Aradhya on Facebook and had befriended  a person from Mangaluru. It is learnt the accused had managed to get the nude photos of the victim and had  then started blackmailing him using the photos. They had thus even succeeded in fleecing him of Rs 65,000.

They even used to threaten the victim stating they were in know of several influential persons including police officers and politicians.

Acting on a complaint from the victim, the Urva police arrested the accused near the Columbia Asia Hospital in  Bengaluru. It was only  after the arrest that the cops came to know that one of the accused was actually a man and had posed himself as a woman on Facebook.
