Express/Shuttle bus commuters in for shock - RTA on fares

Mangalore, July 3, 2014:  The High Court direction to Dakshina Kannada RTA to effectively implement the fare hike notification issued by the State government, has made the RTA  again revise bus fare with effect from July1, 2014.

 

The private bus operators had approached the court against the previous revision urging to direct the RTA to implement the fare revision issued by the State government.  dated July 31,2013.

Bus commuters have received another shock in the form of revised bus fare in less than a month of previous revision in Dakshina Kannada district.  According to the latest bus fare, the minimum fare has been increased to Rs8  up from Rs 7 for Express and shuttle buses.

The revised fare for Express and shuttle buses are—6.6-13 km—Rs 12 (Rs 12), 13.1-19.5 km—Rs18(Rs17),19.5-26km —Rs24(Rs23),26.1-32.5km— Rs30(Rs29),32.6-39km—Rs 36(Rs35),39.1-45.5km—Rs 42(Rs40),45.6-52km—Rs47 (Rs 45), 52.1-58.5 km—Rs 50 (Rs50),58.6-65km—Rs59(Rs 56),65.1-71.5km—Rs63(Rs 61),71.6-78km—Rs68(Rs66), 78.1-84.5 km—Rs 74 (Rs 71), 84.6-91km—Rs80(Rs76),91.1 -97.5—Rs83(Rs81),97.6-104 km—Rs89(Rs86),104.1-110.5 km—Rs 91 (Rs 91), 110.6-117 km—Rs97(Rs96),117.1-123.5 km — Rs 103 (Rs 103), 123.6 km-130km—Rs106(Rs107), 130.1-136.5—Rs 113 (Rs 113), 136.6-143km—Rs118(Rs118), 143.1-149.5 km—Rs 124 (Rs 123),149.6km-156km—Rs130 (Rs 128) and 156.1 km-162.5 km—Rs135(Rs134).

The RTA has NOT touched the minimum fare of city bus (urban) and city bus  (rural) and the same fare  Rs7, is still valid.

Revised fares are as follows—2.1-4km—Rs8(Rs 7),4.1-6km—Rs9(Rs8),6.1-8 km—Rs10(Rs9),8.1-10km— Rs11(Rs10),10.1-12km—Rs12 (Rs12),12.1-14km—Rs13(Rs 13),14.1-16km—Rs14(Rs14), 16.1-18km—Rs14(Rs14),18.120km—Rs15(Rs15).

The revised rural bus fares are—2.1-4km—Rs8(Rs7),4.16km —Rs 9 (Rs 8), 6.1-8km— Rs10(Rs8),8.1-10km—Rs11 (Rs 9), 10.1-12km—Rs 12 (Rs 10),12.1km to 28km, the fare has remained unchanged.
