Ex-Kaup MLA Vasanth Salian quits JD(S)

Mangalore, Mar 21, 2014 : A former Congress minister and five time MLA from Kaup, Vasanth Salian who had contested the previous Assembly elections on a JD(S) ticket, has quit the JD(S). Sources say, he has sent his resignation letters to the party leadership.
His next move is eagerly awaited and there are indications that the Billawa leader was likely to join the BJP. It is learnt, he has already held talks with Udupi District BJP President Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde and Kaup BJP Chief Suresh Nayak in this regard.
Sources said Salian was not happy with the JD(S) leadership which had ignored him. It is learnt, he is awaiting approval of his resignation by the JD(S) President Deve Gowda.
In another development, BJP candidate from Udupi-Chikmagalur Shobha Karandlaje has also met Salian and has requested him to join the BJP and support her in the elections.
