Mangalore, Feb 2, 2014: State Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader has said that monthly pension for Endosulfan victims with effect from January will be sanctioned from March  onwards.

Speaking to reporters after participating in a high level meeting held at the DC office to discuss the rehabilitation of Endosulfan victims, he said  Endosulfan affected people  who suffer from 75 per cent disabilities will be entitled for Rs 3000 monthly pension while those  who suffer from disabilities from 25 per cent to 75 per cent will get Rs 1500 as monthly pension. The pension will be credited to bank accounts, he informed.

He also stated that a district level committee led by DC has been formed to oversee the effective implementation of the scheme.

National Health Mission funds: The Minister also informed that a sum of Rs 3.6 crore has been sanctioned to Mangalore under National Health Mission while Rs 43 lakhs has been sanctioned to Ullal. Programmes under this scheme would begin soon,he informed and added  the scheme aims at improving the health of the public and to provide better health care facilities to  the deprived sections of the society. Madan Gopal,  Principal Secretary of the Department of Health, who also spoke said Health Kiosks will also be set up in Mangalore and Ullal under the scheme.

 

Hi-tech lab in Wenlock
Later, chairing a meeting at the District Wenlock Hospital, Khader said a hi-tech lab will be developed in Wenlock Hospital. He assured of filling the vacancies and providing more facilities and convert the district hospital as people-friendly hospital.

Khader also directed the medical officers to organise workshops for medical students who are serving in Wenlock Hospital, on responding to the patients with care. Department Principal Secretary M Madan Gopal, Commissioner V B Patil, District Surgeon Dr Rajeshwari and others were present.
