Empower youth associations: MLA Vedavyas Kamath

Mangaluru, Jan 16, 2020 :  Speaking after inaugurating the National Youth Day and Swami Vivekananda birth anniversary organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra, at Town Hall in Mangaluru,  MLA D Vedavyas Kamath  said that  youth associations should be encouraged and empowered to carry out more social activities and build an ideal society.

The MLA added  that the youth associations should be a model and involve more youth towards nation-building.

The ideals of Swami Vivekananda should be the roadmap to youth associations, he said and opined that Swami Vivekananda changed the perception of the entire world about India.

Alva’s Education Foundation Trustee Vivek Alva was the chief guest.

Nehru Yuva Kendra, Mangaluru District Youth Coordinator Raghuveer S, delivering the keynote address, said that the Nehru Yuva Kendra supports the activities of youth associations. There was a an enlightening spirit present.

Yuvaka Mandala, Kanakamajalu, Sullia, was awarded with the district level best yuvaka mandala prize.

Former NSS Coordinator of Mangalore University, Prof Vineetha Rai was felicitated.

Shanmukha Yuvaka Mandala and Sri Subrahmanya Mahaganapathy Cricket Club, Thokuru and Sri Vidya Vinayaka Yuva Mandala, Haleyangady were also honoured on the occasion for their best services in Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.

Shivani, Joylen Lavita and Digvijay won the first, second and third prizes respectively, in the declamation contest conducted by Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Mangalore University NSS Coordinator Dr Nagarathna, Mangaluru Tahsildar Ananta Shankara, District Ayush Officer Dr Muhammed Iqbal K and Zilla Yuvajana Okkoota President Suresh Rai Soodimullu were present.
