Electrocution Victim’s Body Decomposes in Mortuary; Relatives express Outrage

Mangaluru, Oct 28 2019: In a curious development, tension prevailed in Derlakatte after the body of a recently deceased youth which was kept in a private hospital mortuary was found to have decomposed.

The body of Wilson Fernandes, a young man who had died of accidental electrocution on Friday, had been preserved in the hospital mortuary as the funeral was scheduled for Sunday. Wilson was a resident of Nityadhar Site near Thokkottu. Today when the time came for the body to be reclaimed for the funeral, relatives of the deceased were shocked to see that the cadaver was in an advanced stage of decomposition.

Already in deep grief, the relatives and well wishers of the deceased expressed outrage over the negligent attitude of the hospital. Local MLA and former minister U.T. Khadar rushed to the spot and pacified the crowd. Ullal police under ACP Kodandaram and Inspector Gopikrishna also reached the spot to maintain law and order.
