Elderly woman dies after being hit by tempo traveler in Kolya Highway

Mangaluru, Feb 17, 2016: An elderly man died after getting hit by a tempo traveler in Kolya near Thokkottu on on Wednesday, February 17.

The deceased has been identified as Nagamma (70), a resident of Saraswath Colony in Kolya.

Sources said that, Nagamma, wife of Late Mohan Poojary from Kolya was crossing National Highway 66 along with her daughter when the killer vehicle coming from the direction of Kerala knocked the former down.


Nagamma was returning home after attending a baby shower programme of one of her relatives at Ombattukere. Nagamma’s daughter, who was holding mother’s hand miraculously escaped unhurt.

Ullal police has registered a case and investigations are on.

People are dying the dog’s death everyday on the National Highways. The Government is not taking any steps to break the speed of the vehicle and avoid such incidents in future.
