Elderly lady distraught after losing only son in lightning strike

Karkala, May 1, 2014: Puttamma Bhandarthi, an elderly lady is completely distraught and grief stricken after fate snatched away her only son recently. Dinesh Bhandari (28), son of Puttamma who was engaged in the renovation works of the Kodamanittaya Daivasthana  near Moodbidri Kellaputtige on April 29, Tuesday was killed in a lightning strike along with another worker.

The deceased Dinesh has two sisters who are married and he was the only bread winner of his house after his father Seetaram Bhandari’s demise. Now the loss of her son in a lightning strike has struck a severe blow to Puttamma Bhandarthi who is inconsolable. Already Karkala Tahsildar Babu Devadiga, Revenue Inspector Vishwanath Bhat, GP Chief Sumathi Poojarti and others have visited her housie and consoled her.

A cheque for Rs 1.5 lakhs from the Natural Calamity Relief Fund apart from another cheque for a compensation of Rs 10,000 to the BPL family was handed over to Puttamma Poojarti by the Tahsildar on April 30, Wednesday.
