Edamoge child death case : Murder case registered against mother

Udupi, July 13, 2019: A murder case has been registered in Shankeranarayana Police Station  against  Rekha Naik, the mother of the two year old girl child, who was allegedly responsible for the death of the child in her attempt to end life by jumping into the river.

It may be recalled here that Rekha had initially told the police that two masked men had  kidnapped her child  who was sleeping beside her. However, the police who came to know the truth after subjecting  Rekha to thorough interrogation,  has even provided her counselling through psychiatrists after it came to light that she was suffering from depression.

Presently, she has been admitted as an in-patient at the Dr A V Baliga Hospital at Doddanagudde.

She has been booked for murder, murder attempt and suicide attempt.

The case would be thoroughly probed after Rekha’s treatment at the hospital is completed and she is fully cured, said SP Nisha James.
