Mangaluru July 9, 2016: The Bharathiya Janatha Party organised a protest outside DC office on July 9 Saturday, demanding the arrest of the abettors in the DySP MK Ganapathy suicide case.
Addressing the protestors, party leader Ravi Shankar Mijar said that this is the third instance wherein a sincere officer has lost his life due to harassment of higher officers. ’’Though DySP Ganapathy was a honest police officer, the harassment by a former home minister and two senior police officers has brought an end to his life," he said.
Recently DySP Anupama Shenoy was also forced to resign due to harassment by a minister, he further recalled. Former home minister KJ George should be immediately arrested in connection with Ganapathy suicide case and the case should be handed over to CBI probe, he demanded.
Former MLA Yogesh Bhat said that it was a sad day for the state as DySP Ganapathy has ended his life due to harassment. The incident reflects the failure of the state government, he said. "After Congress came to power, several farmers have committed suicide, now it is the turn of police officers," he further said with regret.
Late DySP was known to be a sincere officer while he was posted in Mangaluru, Bantwal and Ullal, Bhat said.
Later, a memorandum was submitted to the Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner .
