Mangaluru, Jan 06, 2015: Drivers of Mumbai bound private buses on January 6, Tuesday staged a demonstration opposite the Canara Pinto Travels Office to condemn the alleged assault on a driver by the owner of a bus. The protest was organised in association with the CITU.
Sunil Kumar Bajal, leader of the CITU who spoke on the occasion said the driver named Vijay Kumar was assaulted by a bus operator while the bus was enroute Mumbai. He demanded justice to the aggrieved bus driver and warned of severe protest otherwise.
Bajal also pointed out that the Mumbai bound bus drivers who had refused to work after the incident, however resumed work following talks between the bus owners and the staff. He alleged that the bus owners however have not kept their promise and were rude to the drivers.
Vasanth Achari of CITU alleged that the Mumbai bound bus drivers work for a meagre pay and demanded that their salaries be increased.
