Mangalore, August 6: Dr. Vinay Hegde, the chancellor of NITTE University, inaugurated “Horizon 2010: Creating Synergy in Healthcare for Excellence,” a national conference organized by Fr. Muller’s Centre for Hospital Administration (FMCHA) in the premises of the hospital on Aug 5, Thursday.

In his inaugural speech, he said that a hospital requires manpower, finance, quality accreditation, and quality control in order to successfully run in, owing to which synergy between people who run the administration and provide medical services is of utmost importance. He added that doctors cannot manage a hospital; professionals qualified for the job should look after hospital administration.

Rev Dr. Oswald A. J. Mascarenhas, the chairman of AIMIT, spoke about the importance of quality and defined it as “the single most important force leading to economic growth of companies in international markets.”


Allen C. A. Pereira, the chairman and managing director of Bank of Maharashtra, said that India is one of the fastest growing economies of the world, in spite of which a major chunk of the Indian population has no access to the basic amenities of life.


Rev. Fr. Patrick Rodrigues, the director of Fr. Muller Charitable Institution, presided over the function and spoke about the technological innovations in the modern medical system.


An innovative healthcare equipment exhibition forms part of the conference, which will conclude on Saturday. Students from all over India are participating in this conference.
