Dr Veerendra Heggade inaugurates International Bunts’ Convention

Mangaluru, Feb 7, 2016: Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala has lauded the contributions of the Bunt community in diverse fields  including art and culture.

He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day national convention of Bunt community, organized  by the International Bunts Welfare Trust  at Town Hall here on February 6, Saturday.

 

Dr Heggade further stated that members of the community who have  spread across the globe have excelled themselves in their  respective fields and have brought name and fame to their nation.

On this occasion, he also advised the younger generation not to forget their roots and lay due emphasis on  culture and tradition of the land.

’Sadashiva’ the tri-monthly magazine of the Trust, was released on the occasion by N. Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University. In his address Vinay Hegde said the empowerment of women in any community will go a long way in the development of the community.

Sri Gurudevananda Swamiji of Shree Kshetra Odiyoor blessed the occasion. Dr. D.K. Chowta presided over the function.

Renowned actor Prakash Raj,  Gurukiran, singer and music director, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, Erya Lakshminarayan Alva, eminent scholar,  Sri Rajashekharananda Swamiji of Gurupur Vajradehi Mutt,  Prakash Shetty of  MRG Group, Sarvottam Shetty, President of UAE Bunts, Sadananda Shetty, Chairman of International Bunts Welfare Trust, Maina Sadananda Shetty,  Vishwa Santosha Bharathi of Barkur Bunt Mahamsamsthana and many others were present.

Prior to the formal ceremony, a colourful and grand procession displaying the Bunt culture and tradition was taken out from University College  to the function venue.
