Mangaluru, May 13, 2016: MLC Ivan D’Souza, advised the former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar not to speak in a disparaging manner about Chief Minister Siddaramiah.
In an interaction with media on May 12, Thursday, MLC D’Souza said that it was unbecoming of former CM Shettar to call CM Siddaramaiah as “Majavadi” (a person who loves partying). “Criticising Siddaramaiah’s works and programme implementation implementation is one thing but target him personally is unethical. The language used by Shettar reveals his mind set. He should tender apology for such setiments,” MLC D’Souza said.
The MLC went on to say that within the available resources and constraints, the Congress government had implemented programmes for the welfare of poor and the oppressed. The State has performed well in implementing the MGNREGA, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and it was ranked third in the implementation of the project.
The State had completely used Rs. 35,766 crore allocated for 2015-16. The Centre has reduced the allocation by Rs. 5,000 crore for the current financial year by granting Rs. 30,274 crore. MLC D’Souza said that Chief Minister has personally toured the drought hit districts of the state and asked the Centre to release Rs. 12,345 crore.
