Mangalore, July 16, 2013 : SCDCC Bank Chairman MN Rajendra Kumar inaugurated a high speed milk packing machine at the DK District Milk Producers’ Union on July 15, Monday.
In his address, Rajendra Kumar said the incorporation of such a modern machinery will help the Union meet the increasing demand for dairy products in the district.
He also pointed out that farmers do not consider dairy farming as venture mainly because of the high production cost, he added the subsidy of Rs 4 per litre of milk provided by the government has been a contributing factor that encourage dairy farmers.
Raviraj Hegde, President of DK District Co-operative Milk Producers Union said in a bid to achieve self sufficiency in dairy farming the Union has launched a calf rearing scheme. He also informed that the Union will launch a new product-Cashew Burfi during co-operative week and has plans to set up a unit to manufacture milk products.
Dr BV Satyanarayana, Managing Director informed that the high speed milk packing machine costing Rs 12 lakh can pack 8,000 to 10,000 packets of milk in one hour.
The Union will hold special sale schemes till September 30 wherein lucky purchases of Nandini products like mysorepak, Nandini peda and Nandini bite will win one gram gold, silver coin apart from other attractive prizes.
