Udupi, Sep 08, 2017: Chairing the progress review meeting of government departments at the Udupi DC’s office on Sept 7, Thursday; Udupi District In-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj has directed the tahsildars to distribute BPL cards to applicants. The distribution of the cards should be done before the end of September, he said.
He went on to say, “3,428 families have applied for BPL cards in the first phase. The scrutiny should be accelerated and if necessary, additional employees for the same should be deployed on contractual basis to ensure the distribution the cards to all eligible families.”
A total of 27,877 applications have been received so far under 94 C and 3,324 people have been provided with the title deeds. Only 149 have been provided with title deeds out of 7,797 applicants, under 94 CC. The applications pending in various levels should be disposed off soon, he told the revenue officials. In case the applications are rejected, the officials must cite a specific reason to the applicants for the rejection.
The minister instructed to identify the ‘DC Manna’ lands and to allocate them to the eligible after forming taluk level committees. He told the engineers to complete the maintenance of concrete roads in the district before the end of November. Expressing his discomfiture over the poor maintenance of Malpe-Parkala-Hiriyadka-Theerthahalli National Highway, Pramod sought a report from the National Highway Authority of India officials in this regard.
Mescom officials said that 4,652 applications have been received under Deen Dayal project and measures have been taken to provide electrical connections to the houses.
