Speaking to reporters at the Circuit House here, Gowda alleged that the law and order situation in the state was in total disarray and added that there has been a spurt in criminal cases apart from cases of sexual abuse.

Commenting on PM Narendra Modi’s statement that Women’s Empowerment was on top of his agenda, Gowda stated that  during his tenure as  Prime Minister even he had laid strong emphasis on the same.

Admitting that his party does not have a strong base in the city, Gowda assured party men that the party will be built from the grass root level. My visit to the city  is aimed at this direction, he added.

Striking a note of optimism,  Gowda said  he was confident that his party can fare better in the next Assembly elections.

Hinting that he had no retirement plans on mind, Gowda said he would attend Lok Sabha sessions whenever it was possible for him.

Gowda also showered praises on his son HD Kumaraswamy’s tenure as the chief minister and added  Kumaraswamy was able to do much good work in his short tenure.

On the vacant post of State JD(S) President, Deve Gowda said the post will be filled by an able leader within the next two  weeks and hinted that women candidates would be given priority.

Earlier, Deve Gowda interacted with party workers at Shanti Nilaya.

MB Sadashiva, JD(S) leader, Azeez, Corporator and many others were present.
