Despite MCC’s denial, Palemar sticks to his stand ; says water contaminated

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Jan 17, 2017 : Former minister J Krishna Palemar who had recently kicked  up  a storm by producing lab reports and stating  that tap water supplied to several places of the city and its vicinity was contaminated with faecal coliform and was not fit for consumption, has once again reiterated  his earlier statement and has said that it was true that water was contaminated.

Palemar

His statement comes at a time when Mayor Harinath and Mangaluru South MLA JR Lobo, at a press meet recently had severely criticised Palemar and had also asked him not to dent the city’s image through such baseless allegations. They had  also claimed that no coliform was found in 98% of the water samples   when tested.

Speaking to reporters here on January 17, Tuesday Palemar  alleged that under ground drainage water  was let  into the river in Thumbay and that the water was not properly purified. This would severely affect the health of the people, cautioned Palemar and said "Instead of admitting its mistake it  was wrong on the part of the MCC to claim that clean drinking water was supplied."

He has also produced numerous photographs taken from many locations in the city and Bantwal. The video and photographs are quite an evidence to prove his claims.

Many drains in the city as well Thumbe are filled with decomposed animal wastes thrown out from slaughter houses. These drains flown down to Nethravathi river near the Thumbe dam.

"Let there not be politics in the name of water. If the MCC admits its fault, I will  extend my co-operation, lest continue my fight," he warned.

Roopa D Bangera, Opposition leader in MCC,  Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Corporator, Ashok,  BJP North unit Secretary were also present at the press meet .
