Mangalore, Jan 5, 2013: The Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has demanded that the Derlakatte incident must be thoroughly investigated under the supervision of the High Court.
Speaking to reporters here, Ramesh K, State Secretary of the ABVP suspected political interference in the case and also deplored the government’s disinterest in getting a thorough investigation done.
Ramesh further questioned why the police have not seen to it that the victims of the case were subject to medical examination. He demanded that the police invoked Goonda Act on the accused in the case wherein the victims were forced to indulge in sex so that the same could be videographed and the students then blackmailed for money.
Alleging that the accused in the case were also wanted in connection with various other crimes, Ramesh demanded that there need to be a probe to find out if the accused were involved in terror activities.
He said the ABVP will stage a dharna if its demands were not fulfilled and added the Parishad also backed the protest to be organised by the Mahila Jana Jagrithi Vedike on January 9.
