Mangaluru, May 5, 2018: Indian Dental Association (IDA) has condemned the charges made against BJP candidate for Mangaluru North (Surathkal) constituency Dr Y. Bharath Shetty by Congress leader Devi Prasad Shetty Balipu. Dr Bharath Shetty, who is a dentist by profession, is a member of IDA.
Addressing media persons at a press conference hosted at a hotel in the city, IDA office bearer Dr. Shivasharan said the charges of corruption made against Dr Bharath Shetty were baseless. He said the charges made by the Congress leader were politically motivated and that it was unbecoming of him to ruin the reputation of a professional, who is also the Dean of a leading dental college.
Explaining the background of the case referred by Balipu, Dr. Shivasharan said there has never been any case filed against Dr. Bharath Shetty. In the year 2013, there were corruption charges against two doctors of Tamil Nadu. While investigating that case, CBI had also searched the house of Dr. Bharath Shetty’s as he was a member of the Indian Dental Council at that time. Later the CBI made him a prosecution witness. Apart from this Dr. Bharath Shetty has been linked to no other case. Congress is making these accusations against Dr. Bharath Shetty for political gain, Dr. Shivasharan said.
Court Order against Publishing False News
Dr. Bharath Shetty’s election agent Sadashiva Aithal has said that a newspaper had published false allegations against Dr. Y. Bharath Shetty. Subsequently a court has granted a restraining order preventing the newspaper from publishing false news. The order also prohibits 30 other television channels from telecasting the false news, he said. Deviprasad, Santosh Nayak and Sujay Shetty were present during the press meet.
