Kundapur, Feb 27, 2014 : In a broad daylight burglary reported from Kundapur town, thieves who gained entry into a house at Siddanayakana Road by breaking open the front door locks, have decamped with jewellery weighing seven sovereigns and a cash of around Rs 11000.
The theft took place in the house of Ratnaker Hawaldar,, an employee in Sales Tax office. If Ratnaker was away at office, his wife Vanitha was out to attend a meeting when the theft took place. Even the keys of the almirah remaining in the key hole itself proved a boon to the thieves who quickly laid their hands on the jewellery and cash.
The theft in a locality where there were many houses around, has surprised locals. There is also a suspicion that some people in the vicinity themselves might be behind the thefts.
Though a dog squad was pressed into service, it was of not much help. Kundapur police are investigating.
