Belthangady, Jan 10, 2014: Thieves who broke into a house in the town during broad day light on January 9, Thursday, have decamped with valuables worth over Rs 3 lakhs.

The theft occurred in the house of Dayanand Nayak, owner of MN Computers. The thieves who gained entry into the house  between 11 am and 1 pm  by breaking open the doors, had reportedly stolen  jewellery including two gold chains, two bangles, five  finger rings, four pair of ear rings and silver articles. Bhat has been resiidng in the house for the past six years and there were three other houses in the compound.

 That the theft has occurred in a busy area with houses too located in close proximity, has surprised locals. There was no one in the house when the theft took place and came to light when Nayak’s wife who had gone for work returned in the afternoon.

Belthangady police are investigating the case.
