Mangaluru, Dec 4, 2017: The DYFI staged a dharna in front of the DC office here on December 4, Monday to prevail upon the government to take suitable measures to regulate private hospitals.
The dharna was also staged in support of the demand to strengthen government hospitals and also to set up a government medical college in the district.
Addressing the protestors, DYFI leader Sunil Kumar Bajal said that the hefty treatment charges at private hospitals has dealt a severe blow on the common man.
Referring to the KPME Act, he said an essential feature of this Act has been dropped by the government by succumbing to pressure from doctors.
B K Imtiyaz, District President of DYFI, Secretary Santosh Bajal, Madhuri Bolar, several office bearers and members of DYFI were present.
A memorandum was also submitted to the Deputy Commissioner enlisting the demands of the DYFI.
