DYFI procession turns violent ; vehicles torched; 2 injured

Kasargod, Jan 12, 2017: Two persons were injured while a car and an autorickshaw were torched by miscreants  when a  DYFI led procession turned  violent at Mulleria on Janary 11, Wednesday. The violence has sparked tension in the area. The Hindu Aikyavadi Sanghatane has called for a Hartal today (Thursday).


fire The DYFI had arranged the procession to hail the Supreme Court directive  to the state government to provide Rs 5 lakh as compensation to each of the families affected by Endosulfan.

It is alleged that  Bharat, a BJP worker who was riding his autorickshaw was intercepted and attacked during the procession and his vehicle too damaged. In another incident, the car  of District President fo Hindu Aikyavadi Sanghatane, Vaman Achari  too was  torched.

Meanwhile the CPI(M) has alleged that the BJP workers had stoned the DYFI procession resulting in the violence. It has also been alleged that two young bike riders were intercepted and attacked by DYFI activists.

Security has been stepped up in the area following the incidents.
