Mangaluru, March 4, 2018: The Dakshina Kannada Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat will organise the district Kannada literary convention at the Kulkunda Shiva Rao (Niranjana) Sabhangana, Kolambe Puttanna Gowda Vedike, at the grounds near KSRTC bus stand in Kolambe, Kukke Subrahmanya, on March 5, 6 and 7.

Addressing reporters at the DK DC’s court hall, Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura said that the convention will begin with a cultural procession from Kukke Sri Subrahmanyeshwara Mahavidyalaya premises on March 5 at 9.30 am. Zilla Panchayat member Asha Timmappa Gowda will flag off the procession.

The convention will be inaugurated by Kannada Development Authority chairman S G Siddaramaiah. Subrahmanya Samputa Narasimhaswamy Mutt seer Vidyaprasannatheertha Swami will grace the occasion. Karnataka Legislative Council chairman D H Shankaramurthy will inaugurate the programme. District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai will preside over the inaugural session. Writer A P Malati will be the president of the literary convention.

Folklore scholar Prof K Chinnappa Gowda will launch the new works of litterateur T G Muduru. Kannada Sahitya Parishat former president Harikrishna Punaroor will inaugurate the rangoli exhibition. Veteran litterateur Erya Lakshminarayana Alva, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil and Superintendent of Police Dr B R Ravikanthegowda will be among the guests.

Kalkura said that scholars Dr Balapadavu Madhava Upadhyaya, Kudupu Narasimha Tantri, Dr Girish Bharadwaj, Porf Mahabala Shetty, Prof K E Radhakrishna, Dr K S N Udupa, Subrahmanya, Kadri Prabhakara Adiga and S K Ananda will be felicitated on the occasion. Karnataka State Cooperative Federation president M N Rajendrakumar will be felicitated with Kannada Siri award. Kuvempu University former Vice Chancellor Prof K Chidananda Gowda will honour the awardees.

Various sessions will be held on the three days of the literary convention. Cultural programmes will also be held.

The valedictory programme will be held on March 7 at 4.30 pm. Critic Dr M Prabhakar Joshi will deliver the valedictory address, he added.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat honorary secretary Thammaiah and District Information Officer Khader Shah were present at the press meet.
