Mangaluru, Dec 29, 2018: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel met Railways Minister Piyush Goyal and demanded a separate railway division in Mangaluru.

He said that a full-fledged building should be constructed at the Mangaluru Central Railway Station and basic amenities must be upgraded there. The work on the third and fourth platforms at Mangaluru Central Railway Station should be expedited, he added.

The doubling of Subrahmanya-Sakleshpura railway line should be taken up on priority, the MP urged. He also urged the Union minister to run Mangaluru-Madgaon DEMU train on a daily basis.

He also urged Goyal that Dadar-Madgaon Janshatabdi Express should be extended to Mangaluru and Mahalakshmi Express (Mangaluru-Hassan-Arasikere-Hubballi-Miraj) should be reintroduced

He appealed to Goyal to fulfil the demand for providing facilities at Subrahmanya Road railway station.

Goyal promised to look into the demands and said that a high-level officials meeting would be convened in New Delhi shortly to discuss on the separate railway division at Mangaluru.
