Mangaluru, Aug 26,2016: DK Deputy Commissioner Dr K G Jagadeesha has reprotedly directed the Lady Goschen Superintendent to submit a proposal to the government to set up an ICU in the hospital.

JagadeeshaChairing a district health mission meeting, he said that an ICU is a necessity for the hospital as a large number of pregnant women come to the hospital for health services. The ICU will help patients to avail of the treatment on time.

He directed the district health officer not to ask doctors from PHCs and government hospitals to attend various meetings. "Shortage of doctors is already affecting some PHCs. If the doctors attend government programmes and meetings, then the patients will be forced to wait for the doctors. All the government hospitals should have enough stock of medicines. The work on government hospital buildings should be completed within the stipulated period," said DK DC Dr Jagadeesha.

He also directed the officials to submit a revised proposal for the setting up of permanent rehabilitation centre for endosulfan victims. The authorities have already earmarked five acres of land for construction of the centre at Alankar. A proposal for Rs 6.5 crore has already been submitted to the government, he added.

Dr Jagadeesh said that four mobile health units will be proposed to attend to people at the endosulfan-affected areas. A physiotherapy units will be set up at Belthangady, Puttur, Sullia taluk hospitals, Moodbidri, Vittal community health centres. He said that he will send a proposal to the government to increase the monthly honorarium for the endosulfan victims.

The findings of an independent survey in talks with various cross section of citizens indicates, that in Govt hospitals all the basic administrative matters on leave, transport, maintenance, supplies, purchases, gen admin  and sundry affairs are handled by specialized doctors. A dedicated administrative cell taking the essential advise of doctors on medical matters will help to free the doctors to attend to the sick and streamline the function of Govt Hospitals/Medical establishments.

DC’s initiative to modify the Government Hospitals is appreciating. Administration has to be set up for the proper utilization of the Government funds and benefits as it is mislead by the Hospital staff

whatever facilities are given most of them have the feeling that these Hospitals are usually meant for the poor. Even the hospital considers the same way. The doctors of the Government hospitals has his own private clinic which will effect the Hospital at times of emergency

It is the Hospital authority which misuses the benefit given by the Government . They are not properly provided to the public . Negligence of Doctors is more in case of Government Hospitals.
