Mangaluru, April 20, 2017 : The Minorities Cell of the DK District Congress Committee has welcomed the state government decision to hand over the Ahmed Qureshi case to the CoD, in the wake of allegations that the police committed brutalities on Qureshi while in detention. The Minorities Cell of the Congress also hoped that the CoD probe would bring to light the facts and ensure punishment to the guilty in this case.
Speaking to reporters here on April 20, Wednesday, N S Karim, President of DK District Congress Minorities Cell and Nooruddin Salmara, State Convenor of the Cell said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has considered this case seriously after DK District in-charge Minister B Ramanatha Rai, Food and Civil Supplies Minister UT Khader, Legislators Moidin Bava, Ivan D’Souza and JR Lobo met him and apprised him of the mater.

Referring to the several grants allocated in the current budget towards the welfare of the minorities as part of various schemes, the leaders said a sum of Rs 10 crore has also been granted for the construction of Haj Bhavan in Mangaluru.
Mohammad Monu, President of Mangaluru Taluk Panchayat, Basheer Jokatte, Taluk Panchayat Member and others were present at the press meet.
