Belthangady, Oct 31, 2015: Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim visited Navoor village in Belthangady taluk and interacted with the scheduled castes and tribal people of the village at Pulithadka in Kudremukh National Park limits on October 29, Thursday.
During his interaction the DC assured the villages to fulfill their demands and to provide basic amenities including electricity under the Deen Dayal Rural Electrification Scheme as well as laying of roads.
He also directed the authorities concerned to distribute fair price commodities to the villagers through a mobile unit. The locals also apprised the Deputy Commissioner of the various problems faced by them while applying for house sites under Forest Rights Act as they usually get rejected. Responding to this, the DC assured to get a special file prepared to deal with such cases.
An allegation was also heard that the Department of Forest raised objection to the works taken up with the help of funds sanctioned under Naxal package. Reacting to this, SP Dr Sharanappa stressed for better co-ordination among different departments.
The DC later said all out efforts would be made to solve the problems of the villagers and also assured that the salaries of the Home Guards and Teachers appointed under Naxal area package would be released soon.
Lalitha, President of Navoor Gram Panchayat, Prasanna Murthy, Tahsildar, Mahantesh, Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer and several officials were present.
