The DC’s move  is in the wake of  the Karnataka government order  restricting use of red beacon lights by any other officials other than the governor, Chief Minister, Ministers, High Court judges, Assembly speaker and Legislative Council Chairperson.

The Supreme Court too had earlier given a directive in this regard to the state governments.

Accordingly, the Transport Department, on June 10, Monday had started removing the red beacon lights atop vehicles of state and central government officials in DK and the beacon light atop the official car of the DC was the first to be removed.

Regional Transport Officer C Mallikarjuna has also informed that all police officials and other officials would be informed about the government ruling.
