Mangalore, Mar 10, 2014: The Customs officials at the Mangalore International Airport have seized 39 gold pieces totally weighing 816.450 grams, valued at Rs 25,22,830 from a passenger of Kozhikode in Kerala on March 9, Sunday.
The gold was found concealed in two unbranded AC Adapters and two DIC brand car power supply transformers.
The arrested man named Muhammad Rafeeque Kizhakkante Purakkal from Pallikandy in Kozhikode had arrived by an Air India Express Flight IX814 from Dubai. He has been produced before the magistrate.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Krishna Kumar Prasad, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport. Investigations are underway under the guidance of D Purushottam, Commissioner of Customs.
