Customs Officials at MIA seize gold worth Rs 33.56 lakhs

Mangaluru, Nov 08, 2016 : The Customs Officials at Mangaluru International Airport seized 1,096 grams gold worth Rs 33.56 lakhs from a passenger who arrived from Dubai on November 07, Monday.

smuggle 8 nov 16 The gold was been smuggled concealed in the form of assorted silver coloured paint-coated objects of various shapes and sizes. Silver paint in the form of beads in chain and bracelets, buckles of foot wears, Talcum powder tin, circular sheets in face cream, key chain rings, , circular objects in door handle locks, buttons on woolen jackets which were placed in carton.

The passenger was taken to custody by officials. Investigations are underway.
