Moodbidri, Nov 21,2016 : It is a welcome development to note that students and youth are developing an interest in literature and folk culture. This will go a long way in promoting a cultured society, said veteran critic Dr Giraddi Govindaraja. He was delivering the valedictory address of the Alva’s Nudisiri at Vidyagiri here on November 20, Sunday.
Appreciating the efforts of the organisers in identifying and honouring outstanding achievers by conferring them Nudisiri Awards, he said this would go a long way in encouraging talents.
Dr B N Sumitra Bai who chaired the conference, said the experience of participating in Nudisiri is life-enriching.
Nalin Kumar Kateel, Dakshina Kannada MP, Abhayachandra Jain, former minister, Capt. Ganesh Karnik, MLC, B A Viveka Rai, scholar, Amarnath Shetty, former minister and others were present.
The Alva’s Nudisiri awards were presented to 13 achievers on the occasion. The award included a shawl, plaque, memento and a cash prize of Rs 25,000. Dr Giraddi Govindaraja, Subraya Chokkady, Chennanna Vaalikara (literature), K R Sandhya Reddy ( Research), G N Ranganatha Rao ( Media), K V Akshara ( Theatre), Harini (Cinema), Srinivas G Kappanna (Organisation), Sheenappa Rai Sampaje, Jabbar Samo (Yakshagana), H R Leelavathi ( Light Music), Dr Chandrashekhar Chowta ( Agriculture) and Dr G Jnanananda( Sculpture) received the awards on the occasion.
Dr M Mohan Alva, Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation. expressed his happiness over the immense encouragement and patronage which Nudisiri has received. He said over 35,000 delegates had taken part in Nudisiri from across the nation and abroad.
