Crackdown on erring teachers : DDPI suspends 6 teachers of Aletty ZP School in Sullia

Sullia, June 4, 2013: In a first ever move to crackdown factionalism and unwelcome practices of some teachers, the Deputy Director of Public Instructions, during a surprise visit to the Government High School at Aletty in Sullia taluk, suspended as many as six teachers and a second grade assistant of the high school, including the in-charge headmistress.

The visit of the DDPI followed several complaints of dereliction of duty, unauthorized absence and entrusting of personal works to students. Earlier the Block Education Officer Malleswamy  after conducting an enquiry into the allegations, had submitted a report to the Zilla Panchayat. 

The report had revealed that some of the complaints were true and the unwelcome behaviour of the teachers had taken its toll on the academic results of the student s. Even the ZP meeting held in March had decided to take disciplinary   action against the erring teachers but had postponed the decision in the wake of the annual exams.

 During the visit of the DDPI, the in-charge headmistress Sandhya was absent and even the teacher Chandrashekhar to whom she had handed over charge was absent. The in-charge headmistress Sandhya, Chandrashekhar, Hariprasad, V Subrahmanya. Shivakumar, K Chandramathi and second grade assistant Yogish Bharath were suspended  from service.

Dr Sunder Kenaje, resource officer of block resource centre has now been appointed in-charge headmaster of the school by the DDPI. Teachers are also expected to be posted.

Only five students were admitted for eighth standard in the school during the current academic year.
