Badiadka, Feb 06, 2020: A team of experts from Calicut Medical College led by Dr B Laila had rushed to Kasargod district after the third coronavirus case was confirmed a few days ago in Kasargod.
The team presently at Kanhangad will visit Kasargod General Hospital. The team will hold a consultation meeting with the doctors from Kasargod district for the next three days on controlling the spread of coronavirus.
An isolation ward was already set up at Kasargod General Hospital. A special committee of experts from general medicine, pulmonary, ENT and neurology had been constituted in the district.
As many as 94 people who arrived from China were being monitored by the health department. The blood samples of 16 people had been sent to National Institute of Virology unit at Alappuzha, said Kasargod district collector Dr D Sajith Babu.
With the confirming of coronavirus case in Kasargod, district health department had taken precautionary measures. The samples of those who were in contact with the infected people had been collected and sent for testing. A 24X7 control room was also set up in the district, informed the deputy commissioner.
The district collector also warned of initiating strict action against those spreading fake news on social media about coronavirus.
