Mangaluru, Mar 31, 2020: Following the successful lifting of city wide curfew on Tuesday, the District Administration has come forward to relax the lockdown on commercial activity in Mangaluru from 7 am to 12 pm every day from Wednesday.
This decision was taken during a meeting presided by District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary. As a result all fruit, vegetable and grocery shops, milk parlours, LPG suppliers and essential item vendors will be open throughout the city during the stated timings. Pharmacies are already allowed to remain open 24x7. Banks and petrol bunks will also be open.
During the same meeting MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, border entry points into Karnataka from Kerala will not be opened anytime soon. He explained that the closing of the interstate border is deemed necessary to prevent spread of COVID-19 which is observed to be spreading rapidly in the Kerala and especially in the neighbouring Kasargod district.
